Pinchinat Max
In 1947 he joined the “ Centre d’Art” and in 1949 won the gold medal at the International Exhibition in Port-au-Prince. He became an art critic for the “Nouvelliste” and “ Notre- Temps”. He also contributed to “ Conjunction” the French Institute’s journal in Haiti.
In 1950, Pinchinat was one of the founders of the Hall of Plastics Arts with Lucien Price , Dieudonné Cédor, Luckner Lazard, etc…and became its first president. In 1951, He resigned from the army and the Hall of Plastic Arts to accept a scholarship from the French government. From 1952 to 1954 he lived in Paris, France.
In 1966 he became a proof-reader at the Georges Lang printing house, then joined “ Le Monde” in 1968. Between 1949 and 1961 he exhibited frequently in Haiti, France, the United States, Mexico, South America and Germany.
In his book entitled “ Peintres Haitiens” , the author Gérald Alexis said “ Pinchinat learned to mix his modern aesthetic style with aspects of Haitian popular art.”
