Obin Philome
His paintings have a geometrical precision but at the same time are poetic. Obin's style has profoundly marked painting in the North of Haiti( Cap-Haitian ). He painted two murals at the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Gerald Alexis states in his book “ Peintres Haitiens ” Obin’s concern with precision and the respect of reality, injects a measure of coldness into his narrative works”
His role in the development of art in his region has been such that many members of his own family have become painters that are also admired by many collectors. He was the president of the branch of the Centre d’Art in Cap-Haitian and the father of the Cap-Haitian school.
He is without a doubt Haiti's oldest and most well-known artist. To own one of his paintings is truly to own a treasure. His name is cited in the best Haitian art book.
