Pinchinat Max (2)
Max Pinchinat was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on June 24 1925 and died in November 1985 in Paris, France.
Pinchinat entered the Military Academy where he achieved the rank of sub-lieutenant after his secondary studies.
Bigaud Wilson (5)
Wilson Bigaud (born 29 January 1931) is a Haitian painter. Born in Port-au-Prince, Bigaud first worked with clay before becoming a painter. At the International Exhibit in Washington, D.C., in 1950 Bigaud won second place for a painting entitled "Paradise".
Gabriel Jacques (2)
Jacques Gabriel (1934 - 1988) was a Haitian painter. A Port-au-Prince native, Gabriel studied at the The New School for Social Research in New York City and received a scholarship to study in Paris, France. His works have been exhibited in the United States, Italy, Jamaica, and at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
Joseph Antonio (4)
Antonio Joseph (born 1921) is a Haitian artist. Born in Barahona, Dominican Republic, to Haitian parents, Joseph practices painting, sculpture, and screen-printing. He worked as a tailor while studying watercolor and sculpture in Haiti and screen-printing in the United States.
Bottex Seymour E. (4)
Bottex is considered on of the 'Old Masters' of 20th century Haitian art.
Seymour Bottex was born on Christmas Eve, 1922 in Port Margot in the north of Haiti. His grandfather was an important General in the Haitian Army.
Peters DeWitt (1)
DeWitt Peters was a minor American artist who came to Haiti in 1943 as part of an English teaching project instituted by the Lescot government. Later that year, Peters wrote to the ministry of education that he was opting out of teaching because he felt he could be "of more service in the movement to establish a school of painting here in Port-au-Prince."
Jean-René Jérôme (3)
Jean-René Jérôme was born in Petit-Gôave, Haiti on March 15, 1942 and died in 1991. He studied at the “Ecole des Beaux-Arts” and after various artistic studies he decided to dedicate himself to painting. In 1965 Jérôme won the first prize at the Esso Salon Competition.
Dubuc Roland (2)
Roland DUBUC was born in 1924 at Caudebec les Elboeuf in Normandy the sixth of thirteen children from a family of modest means. He started his working life at fourteen as an apprencite decorator, dreaming for four years about being a painter, it was not until he was eighteen he left the family unit to live his own life.

Blaise Saint Louis (1)
Saint-Louis Blaise (born 1956) is a Haitian painter. Born in Cap-Haïtien, Blaise paints historical scenes, especially scenes from the Haitian Revolution and the reign of Henri Christophe.
Valcin Gerard (4)
Valcin Gerard. 1925 (Port-au-Prince) He joined the Centre d'Art in 1950. One of the most esteemed of the primitive painters he focuses on Voodoo, landscapes and themes of country life.
Turnier Luce (4)
Luce Turnier was born in 1924 in Jacmel and died in 1995.
In 1945, she joined the Art Center where she worked her drawing and familiarized herself with the techniques of oil painting. In 1947, John Marshall recognized her authentic Haitian art talent.
Buffet Bernard (2)
Buffet was born in Paris, France, and studied art there at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (National School of the Fine Arts) and worked in the studio of the painter Eugène Narbonne. Among his classmates were Maurice Boitel and Louis Vuillermoz.

Il est né a Pétion-Ville le 29 août 1898. Il ne semble pas qu’il ait eu la chance d’aller a l’école et apprendre a lire et a écrire. Jusqu’en 1949, il exerça toutes sorte de professions, essayant seulement de survivre : il fut boutiquier, cuisinier, marchand ambulant ; il se dit même qu’il aurait été garçon de cour.
Joseph Jasmin (4)
Jasmin Joseph was born in 1924 in the northern village of Haiti called “Grande Riviere du Nord”. Very young, he left his native village to look for a job in Port-au-Prince. He worked at various trades before ending up in a brickyard close to the capital.
Price Lucien (1)
Price, Lucien. Born in Port-au-Prince in 1915, and died there Jan. 19, 1963. Studied in both France and the U.S., he returned to Haiti and joined the movement to found the Centre d'Art. At the end of his life he felt alone and misunderstood and retreated into silence and himself.
Pierre Andre (8)
Andre Pierre was born in Port-au-Prince on July 29th, 1914. He is the artistic and spiritual heir of the renowned Haitian painter Hector Hyppolite. Born into a rural agricultural family, he decided one day in his youth to devote his life to Voudou.
Benoit Rigaud (2)
Rigaud Benoit was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1911. He was a musician, driver, and a decorator of pottery.Rigaud Benoit was one of the first artists to have joined the Art Center in 1944 with a jug he had decorated. It was immediately apparent to the American and founder of the Centre d’art, Dewitt Peters, that he was already an artist of immense promise.

Hector Hyppolite was born in 1894. He was recognized as Haiti’s foremost painter from St-marc, Haiti. Hyppolite was educated as an apprentice shoemaker. He also worked as a cobbler, housepainter, furniture decorator, ship builder, and Innkeeper.
Wah Bernard (3)
Bernard Wah began to draw when he was 10. He studied ceramics and sculpture at the Ceramics Center. By the age of 17, he was teaching decoration and sculpture there. Around that time, he became interested in art and music; he composed songs and wrote poetry as well. In 1961, the government gave him the task of restoring the art works from public gardens and cultural centers.
Laurent Peterson (2)
Peterson Laurent (1888-1958) was a Haitian painter. Born in Saint-Marc, Laurent worked as a blacksmith. He typically painted scenes of rural life and United States battleships. Laurent died at about age 70 in Saint-Marc.
Obin Philome (8)
Philome Obin was born in 1891 ( Limbe ) . He had been a painter long before his first exposition at the Centre d'Art in 1945. He his considered to be the Patriarch of naïve painting, which had been incubating in the country for some time. . He is a self-taught artist.
Bazile Castera (6)
Self taught. He learned to master art techniques from other artists meeting and working regularly at the Centre d’Art, in Port- au- Prince.
